Drama

About:

To explore and engage with the various components of the dramatic arts through fully realized productions (plays and musicals). The goal of the drama department is to cultivate the theatrical skills of student actors and technicians through a variety of performance opportunities. Each year, the ACHS drama department produces two full-length productions: a fall play and a spring musical. In years past, we have also staged other performances, such as one-act plays with IHSSA and senior-directed one-act showcases. Opportunities exist for students to engage in acting, student directing, stage management, and technical crews. Crews include costumes, makeup, lights, sound, set, props, publicity, choreography, and community engagement. We need strong people on and off stage to make our productions run well! If you are interested in participating on or off stager, please contact Ms. Stratton.

Auditions/Practice: Daily from 4-6 pm during rehearsal weeks — the fall play meeting is 8/29 at 3:50 pm in the drama room (1324), and fall play auditions and crew signups are on 9/5 and 9/6 at 4:00 pm in the auditorium. Spring musical information is TBA.

Time Committment: During rehearsal periods, this will vary. Actors can expect to spend 2 hours per day at rehearsal (approx. 10 per week) while crew time expectations will vary from 1-10 hour per week.

Requirements: Audition or sign-up on time! That’s it!
