Open Mic’ Night LVI – The Ankeny and Centennial High School libraries are excited to host our first open mic’ night since last winter! This will be held in the CHS Library on April 28th at 5PM. Come share a song or poem with your friends and family! Please sign up with Mrs. Wirtz at AHS or Mr. Honz at CHS. Masks are required.

Track and Field
8th Girls Track – Practice starts 3/22/2021
Sign-up / informational meeting options: Monday, March 1st at 3:45pm in the NV East Gym OR Tuesday, March 2nd at 7:45am in the NV East Gym (Enter through door S10 in the am). Interested athletes only need to attend one of the meetings. If you cannot attend either meeting, please contact Coach Waugh using the email provided below.
Practice will begin on Monday, March 22nd at 3:45p in the NV East Gym. All participants must have tennis shoes and fully completed their online Athletic registration.

8th Boys Track – Practice starts 3/22/2021
Sign-up / informational meeting on Thursday, March 4th in the NV East Gym at 3:45pm. We will hand out sweats on Monday, March 8th. Practice will begin on Monday, March 22nd. Practice will be held at NV Stadium. All participants must have tennis shoes and an up to date physical and online Athletic Registration completed.

9th Girls Golf- Practice starts 3/22/2021
Girls Golf parent/player meeting will be Thursday, February 18 at 6:30 pm in the ACHS cafeteria. Please try to have at least one representative for each family present at the meeting. Face masks are required. If there is an issue please contact Coach Petersen at john.petersen@ankenyschools.org
Soccer
9th Grade Girls– Practice starts 3/22/2021
Varsity tryouts start March 22 at Centennial in the morning and Northview in the afternoon. For players not trying out for varsity, practice will begin on March 22 at Northview after school. Practices will run from 4:05-5:45 Monday through Friday.

Updated 2/8/21: Clarification on Governor’s Proclamation
In light of the recent statewide lifting of many COVID-19 mitigation requirements, Ankeny Schools’ activities will continue to follow social distancing guidelines and mask requirements.
All CIML activity departments will continue to abide by social distancing guidelines established by the Polk County Health Department, Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, Iowa High School Athletic Association, and Centers for Disease Control.
As a result, Ankeny Schools will follow these guidelines for CIML events to keep our student athletes and fans safe.
Basketball
Varsity Players will be issued 4 wristbands to distribute to family, Lower Level Players will be issued 2 wristbands to distribute to family. We will limit visitor fans to 2 tickets per student athlete and the local school districts will determine crowd limitations based on social distancing guidelines recommended by Polk County Health Department, Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, Iowa High School Athletic Association, & CDC. CIML member schools will continue to monitor, update, and communicate our information and procedures to keep everyone as safe as possible. Cheer & Dance will continue to receive 2 wristbands at games they perform.
Swimming
Swimming will restrict visiting fans and we will issue 2 wristbands to swimmers based on social distancing guidelines recommended by Polk County Health Department, Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, Iowa High School Athletic Association, & CDC. CIML member schools will continue to monitor, update, and communicate our information and procedures to keep everyone as safe as possible.
Bowling

8th and 9th Boys Basketball Games Postponed
8th Boys Basketball games tonight at SE POLK have been postponed to Thursday, February 25…same time and structure due to weather. There will be NO PRACTICE tonight!
9th B/C BBB @ Johnston is canceled for tonight
9A BBB vs. DM Roosevelt has been postponed to Saturday, Feb. 13th. Game times TBD.
9th grade practices cancelled tonight also.

Iowa Girls State Wrestling
Ankeny Centennial had 4 wrestlers qualify for the Iowa Girls State Wrestling Tournament: Dana Cleveland, Grace Gray, Avery Grim and Olivia Foddrill. Congratulations to Grace Gray on her 3rd place finish at the state tournament. Way to go Jaguars!
Boys Track and Field Meetings at NV and ACHS
There will be a 9th grade boys Track and Field Informational Meeting on Tuesday, February 16 in the East Gym at 7:45 am or 3:45 pm. The 10-12 grade boys will meet on Thursday, February 11, after school in the Commons. If you have additional questions, please contact Coach Smith at nathan.smith@ankenyschools.org
Girls Golf
There will be a golf open gym starting January 21st for girls in 9th-12th grades. Open gym will be held on Monday and Thursdays from 6 pm to 7pm at Prairie Ridge Middle School. Bring a couple of clubs and your putter! Email Coach Petersen if you have any questions: john.petersen@ankenyschools.org

Informational Meeting on Wed, January 20 at 3:45 in NV Commons. Practice will begin February 16 and the season will end the week before spring break. We practice every school day from 4:00-5:30 at NV Middle School Pool . Boys and girls from both Northview and Southview can participate.
